Game 3 lineup

McCarthy p
Doucette ss
Meek lcf
Ritchie 1b
Wright rf
Thompson c
Couture 2b
Lombard 3b
Vigue lf
Bower rcf

Pottle may be there as well, in which case we'll add him at the end and get him a few innings somewhere in the outfield. With 11, no changes to the lineup necessary no matter what we do in the field.

Fresh Cut bashes, bumbles to 2nd W

A collective, "What the..." rose from the benches Wednesday night as Fresh Cut Properties bungled a 29-12 lead before finally rising to beat upstart but undermanned Howie's Pub 41-31 in a slugfest lasting nearly two hours. Lucus Ritchie once again set a blistering pace at the plate, with another homer and multi-hit night despite being pulled late. Pitcher Gavin McCarthy hit for the cycle and batterymate Josh Thompson tomahawked his way on base four times. Don Couture added four hits including a near homer.

Shoddy defence plagued the normally reliable Fresh Cut crew, with melon-headed Brad Smith tossing multiple horsehide softballs over and around multiple teammates. Only a defensive gem-turned-front three quarter somersault saved the corner minder from certain perpetual ridicule. A sports psychiatrist has been retained by Fresh Cut brass to tamp down the mentally fragile Smith.

Game 2 Lineup

McCarthy p
Doucette ss
Meek lcf
Ritchie 1b
Smith 3b
Wright dh
Thompson c
Couture 2b
Vigue lf
Lombard rcf
Aromando rf

Pottle for Vigue and a complicated switch resulting in Ritchie on the bench, Spud at first, Dromgoole in rcf and Lombard at DH mid-game. There is some chance Pottle is not coming, and also some chance Bower is. We will consider such possibilities when they arise.

Recap vs. Hood

A boozy Wednesday night in Payson park witnessed a hammering of hometown milkies, Hood, by a final score of 19-4. Home runs by Shaggy Ritchie (3-4) and Travis "hardly" Meek (2-4) proved to be more than enough, though Spud Wright and George Doucette smacked a trio of hits each. Fresh face Mark Bower notched a pair while fellow newcomer Jack Lombard smashed an impressive double to left center in his debut. Gavin McCarthy toed the rubber and backhand-flipped his way to his first W of the season and was supported by nearly error-free defense, not a usual hallmark of the Fresh Cut game.

Late game controversy loomed when promising rook Jon Aromondo provided a defensive gem ruled a trap by the hometown ump, though all who witnessed the impressive "can of corn" protested the injustice. A post-game investigation into rumors that the umpire was slipped a quart of coffee milk after the game proved unfounded.

Fresh Cut Properties looks to continue its winning ways on May 14 versus Howie's Pub. Good seats still available.

Fwd: Fresh Cut Stats Thru 5/7

Men,

Great game last night! Our bats were hot as were our gloves.

I am going to try my best to keep accurate stats. If you see # signs in the batting average column, this means you are batting 1.000. I will figure out the correct slugging% formula by next week.

Please let me know if I made an error on any of your stats. For some reason, the total RBI's are not matching up to the total R's. If anyone could give me some insight it would be much appreciated.

Have a good one.

See you next week,

Jack

Nice Practice today

Good first effort swinging the bat, though there's an APB out for Mark Bower for clunking some dude's house (and car). Fresh cut pride, baby.
