A boozy Wednesday night in Payson park witnessed a hammering of hometown milkies, Hood, by a final score of 19-4. Home runs by Shaggy Ritchie (3-4) and Travis "hardly" Meek (2-4) proved to be more than enough, though Spud Wright and George Doucette smacked a trio of hits each. Fresh face Mark Bower notched a pair while fellow newcomer Jack Lombard smashed an impressive double to left center in his debut. Gavin McCarthy toed the rubber and backhand-flipped his way to his first W of the season and was supported by nearly error-free defense, not a usual hallmark of the Fresh Cut game.
Late game controversy loomed when promising rook Jon Aromondo provided a defensive gem ruled a trap by the hometown ump, though all who witnessed the impressive "can of corn" protested the injustice. A post-game investigation into rumors that the umpire was slipped a quart of coffee milk after the game proved unfounded.
Fresh Cut Properties looks to continue its winning ways on May 14 versus Howie's Pub. Good seats still available.
